Eight important questions to ask your agent

Qualifications are important. However, finding a solid, professional agent means getting beyond the resume, and into what makes an agent effective. Use the following questions as your starting point in hiring your licensed, professional real estate agent:

  1. Why did you become a real estate agent?
  2. Why should I work with you?
  3. What do you do better than other real estate agents?
  4. What process will you use to help me find the right home for my particular wants and needs?
  5. What are the most common things that go wrong in a transaction and how would you handle them?
  6. What are some mistakes that you think people make when buying their first home?
  7. What other professionals do you suggest we work with and what are their credentials?
  8. Can you provide me with references or testimonials from past clients?

I want to find out more about you as well.
Let’s start the conversation!

And just in case you were wondering about my answers to the questions.
  1. Why did you become a real estate agent? I had a bad experience with a real estate agent when I bought my first home years ago. So I decided to be part of the solution, and I went in to real estate to protect people from having similar bad experiences when buying or selling their home.
  2. Why should I work with you? I take pride in my communication with my clients. I make it a point to respond faster to questions, provide more detailed information, and be more reliable than any other real estate agent out there! Any agent can sell a house, but you want a trusted agent who actually communicates with you well.
  3. What do you do better than other real estate agents? My listings sell at top value in half of the time as the average real estate agent in Orlando. A lot of that is due to my unique 15 point marketing strategy. It works and it gets homes sold!
  4. What process will you use to help me find the right home for my particular wants and needs? I treat each of my clients as a unique individual. There should not be a “one-size-fits-all” approach to real estate. Listening and understanding your real estate needs helps me to know how to help you best.
  5. What are the most common things that go wrong in a transaction and how would you handle them? There are so many things that can happen in the process of buying or selling a house. That’s why a reliable real estate agent like me is important in helping you to navigate those speedbumps that appear between you and your real estate goals.
  6. What are some mistakes that you think people make when buying their first home? Thinking that it will be their “forever” home.
  7. What other professionals do you suggest we work with and what are their credentials? The personal relationships I’ve built with lenders, inspectors, title companies, and appraisers over many years have allowed me to surround myself with people that provide excellent customer service and realize that buying or selling a home is more than just a transaction, it’s helping you reach your personal goals.
  8. Can you provide me with references or testimonials from past clients? I always ask my clients to write a brief summary of their experience of us working together (as I will ask you too). Read a few testimonials.
